The Best Way to Eat Rice: The Filipino Way

One of my favorite Filipino dishes is a common feature with my Cebuano family. Mainly because it is simple and uses rice (which is typically eaten three times a day). However, this is not any ordinary rice: it is the best way to eat rice. You only need a few ingredients and you will never go back to eating rice the old way. Here it goes:

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  1.      Rice – 1 cup cooked rice
  2.      Soy Sauce – 1 tablespoon
  3.      Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
  4.      Calamansi/lime juice – 1 teaspoon
  5.      Tomato – 1 small
  6.      Onion – 1/2 small
  7.      Cucumber (optional)

Directions:

Cut tomato and onion into small pieces. Combine in a bowl and add soy sauce, vinegar, and kalamansi/lime juice. (You can also add a small pieces of cucumber if you like). Pour over rice and feast on this easy, but savory, way to enjoy rice.
